ABOUT ESSANTIER FRAGRANCES

FRAGRANCE BEYOND GENDER

The name Essantier (pronounced "es-san-tee-ay") is derived from the word "essence", evoking the core of fragrance by speaking to the purity of scent beyond gender.  Our mission is to create fragrances that anyone can wear regardless of composition, allowing them to choose fragrances that fit their personality and style.

OUR PROCESS

All of our fragrances are designed and bottled in Southern California where each  fragrance is meticulously crafted over a period of months using the finest essential oils and high quality materials from the same laboratories used by high end perfume brands.  After a fragrance has been created, it is stored for a minimum of three months in a temperature controlled environment for maturation to ensure the mixture has had proper time to macerate before being bottled and sold.  Because of this process, if a fragrance is sold out, it may take up to three months for another batch to become available.

OUR PROMISE

High quality should not be achieved through the guise of exorbitant pricing.  While we use the best quality oils and materials, we do so without increasing the price of our products in an effort to keep our fragrances affordable while maintaining a quality standard that is consistent across our products.

OUR IN HOUSE PERFUMER

Essantier is the creation of Marcus Holmes, who began his journey in perfumery back in 2018 when he learned how to make simple fragrances using essential oils and high proof vodka.  As he delved deeper into perfumery, Marcus found joy and excitement in creating fragrances, but did not understand the high prices of commercial fragrances and the rigid gender binaries they promoted. Why should scents be boxed into labels like "men's" and "women's"? He envisioned a world where fragrance was a personal expression, free from societal constraints.

Inspired, Marcus spent the next few years collecting and studying over 300 different synthetic materials and essential oils used by commercial fragrance brands to understand the deep complexity of scent in an effort to craft genderless fragrances that celebrated individuality. He wanted each fragrance to tell a story, allowing wearers to choose their scent without the pressure of conforming to traditional norms.
